NextGen Mag Issue 6 June 2001
[edit]Hey there. I'm working on Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader, and I know that there is a preview for the game in this issue of NextGen. If you still have it and have the time, could you let me know if there is anything worth having in the article? Thanks! --TorsodogTalk 16:09, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
- The preview is a 10 page cover story so it looks like it has a lot of detail:
References for Ascendancy
[edit]Hey Mitaphane!
I see you are a member of the Video Games Reference library. Thanks for doing that! I have a humble request. I'm looking for references for the game Ascendancy. Supposedly there are two mentions of it in magazines:
- Next Generation Magazine, November 1995. Has a review of the game.
- PC Gamer November 1995 (awards it "Best Strategy Software").
Do you happen to have copies of either magazine? If so would you be able to provide a reference, or provide a scan so I could give a reference? If you have either mag that would be astounding. Let me know, and thanks for your time and dedication! --Culix (talk) 23:50, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- I don't have the PC Gamer issue but here's the Next Gen review. It was in the Dec 95 issue. --—Mitaphane Contribs | Talk 16:54, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
- Awesome! Thank you very much :) --Culix (talk) 03:32, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
Next Generation October 1999
[edit]Hey, I have a request. Are you able to scan the review of Final Fantasy VIII in the October 1999 issue of Next Generation? As well as that, could you scan all ads and news items in the issue for the game? The review will be used for the Wikipedia article (which is lacking a real summary of authoritative reviews), but it will also be used for a project based on FF8 which you'll be credited in (essentially a formal archive of everything related to the game). It would be greatly appreciated. If you do decide to do it, I won't mind how long it takes :P --Teggles (talk) 00:59, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
- I can take care of the news & review requests. But scanning every ad is a bit too much work. I've gotten requests for whole issues before and this is near on the same scale (half the magazine is ads). I did however scan a FVIII ad that was in the issue.

- I apologise for not being too clear - I meant the FF8 news and FF8 ads. Not all the news and ads! :P So you've given me everything I need and more. Thanks a lot :) --Teggles (talk) 05:13, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
Next Generation #52 (April 1999) review of Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri
[edit]Hi. I am doing an overhaul of Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri and noticed that the Next Generation Issue #52 has a review of the game. Could you look at that review and let me know if there is anything there that would be useful for WikiPedia? I am particularly interested in reception. Thank you for your time. Vyeh (talk) 16:56, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
- I found this Next Generation review. I assume this is the same thing. Let me know. Vyeh (talk) 17:09, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
- Turns out it isn't. I guess this was before NGO & NextGen were in sync with their content. Here's the review. --—Mitaphane Contribs | Talk 01:20, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you. Vyeh (talk) 03:33, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- Hi. I also noticed that #45 (September 1998) contained a preview of Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. Could you take a look and let me know if there is anything that would be useful for WikiPedia. I'm hunting for reliable sources to bolster the Storyline and Gameplay section. Thank you again. Vyeh (talk) 18:13, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
- Here it is. --—Mitaphane Contribs | Talk 23:18, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

Thief: The Dark Project: Redux
[edit]Hi. I really hate to bother you with this again, but back in 2009, you provided me with scans of Next Generation Magazine's review of Thief: The Dark Project, alongside a preview and an interview with Warren Spector. I am currently improving Looking Glass Studios game articles, including those I've worked on previously. Unfortunately, the Thief Next Gen scans were misplaced on the hard drive of my old computer, from which they cannot be retrieved. They proved to be critical in filling out the article, and I could not usefully edit it again without having them on hand. I apologize profusely, but would you mind re-uploading the images? They would be a massive help. Thanks, JimmyBlackwing (talk) 03:00, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
- One more thing I just noticed: in the February 1997 issue of Next Generation Magazine, you list a preview for British Open Golf, another Looking Glass game. I'm actually improving several LGS-related articles right now, and plan to work on British Open at some point; however, preview material for it is basically non-existent. It'd be a huge help if you could scan this too. Thanks. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 19:59, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
- No worries about reuploading the thief material, check out the previous conversation links; they're still there :) As far as British Open Golf, here's the review for you. Enjoy. --—Mitaphane Contribs | Talk 20:25, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, I see. I use Internet Explorer; when I clicked on the BOCG link, it was broken like the others. However, I opened them in Firefox, and everything magically worked. Sorry about the confusion, and thanks for the scans; they're greatly appreciated, as always. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 21:45, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
